Do I Need a Tutor to Help Me?

Do I Need a Tutor to Help Me?'Do I need a tutor?' is one of the most common questions asked by people who have their own business or have been looking for the perfect person to teach them how to start a business. If you have ever been in that situation then I am sure you are concerned about whether or not a person will be able to offer you the help you need.Tutors offer several different advantages over other methods of learning. People often times need help and need it fast. When you have a tutor around they can usually give you ideas on how to make a profit even if you are just starting out.Your time is important too. When you take a break in between assignments, the tutor can help you come up with different ways to handle what you need to do next. It is best to find a tutor who has more than just one approach to teaching you. You want to be able to see something in the future. There are other advantages as well. You can easily come up with a certain project or job that can only be done if you know how to do it. There is always someone who can do this for you. There is nothing worse than having a headache and no money. What better way to get rid of your headache then by going to a teacher who can help you learn. Teachers will have more experience than you would ever imagine. They can probably give you help with any problem you have.Your student shows up at your home and takes off without paying for anything. This means that you have not made any commitments to them. The tutor could have already paid you. This is one of the best reasons for taking someone to a tutor. The best way to decide whether or not a tutor is good for you is to find out the right questions to ask. A student may have already taken a class from you so you can ask them about how you can get along with them. You can also try to ask some of your customers what they think about the tutor. This will give you a chance to look at previous customers. If you are just starting out then a teacher will be more than willing to help you get some money before you start your own boss. If you are confident in your skills and have some experience to back it up, then a teacher can really help you make some money online.

The Essential Equipment for your Chemistry Set

The Essential Equipment for your Chemistry Set What You Need in Your Chemistry Kit. ChaptersThe Basic Chemistry Equipment: Test Tubes â€" and Other ContainersSafety Equipment for Your Chemistry ExperimentsThe Necessary Extras: The Things you Need to Understand ChemistryGetting Serious: The Pro Kit for Kitchen ChemistryIf you are a budding scientist, you may want to invest in a chemistry lab at home â€" a place where you can experiment with chemical reactions to your heart’s content. Maybe a whole laboratory in your household is a little ambitious, but there are science kits available â€" for kids and for adults â€" which can turn anybody into an amateur chemist! But before you go and buy anything, have a look at this list of the essential lab equipment you will need to turn your kitchen into a place to cook up science experiments!Brush up with our Chemistry glossary here. There's a couple of rad facts about acids and alkalis, which we're ready to bet you didn't know, in our piece on cool facts about chemistry! The Periodic TableEvery classroom laboratory has one. And you’re not going to understand anything that is going on in your chemistry experiments without one. This is the periodic table, the table of the elements, the chart that tells you exactly what each element is, what it is like, and what it can react with â€" as long as you know how to read it!The periodic table is arranged by atomic number â€" or the number of protons in the nucleus of each atom â€" and by the reactivity of each element. This table will show you precisely why fluorine and caesium are so reactive and will help you understand what happens when two different elements react.Get a chemistry tutor now.Molecular ModelsWhilst the periodic table can show you in numerical terms what is going on in a given atom, molecular models offer a practical way to understand how molecules and compounds are formed. For an explanation of precisely this, see our pieces on basic chemistry concepts or the essential chemistry terminology! If you buy them, they are usually made of plastic, and come with balls (representing atoms) and sticks (representing chemical bonds). The joy of these models is that you can build any molecule you want and actually see what is going on at a chemical level in your test tube. You can even make your own. Just get some little different coloured balls and some string or straws â€" and make all the molecules you could possibly want!Getting Serious: The Pro Kit for Kitchen ChemistryBunsen burnerHonestly, this probably isn’t going to be something you will need at home â€" although we all can dream! The Bunsen burner is a tool that produces a very clean and clear flame from gas, and it is super useful in heating up solutions, burning elements for oxidisation, and seeing how substances react to heat. However, the problem is that they need to be connected to the gas mains â€" and if you are a kid, your parents might not really trust you to use that (although, if you are an adult, your neighbours might not trust you either)! They can be a little tr icky to have installed at home.If you are serious, however, and if you are a very ambitious scientist, then go for it! No science experiment is complete without a Bunsen!Any idea why it's called a Bunsen burner? Check out piece on the world's incredible chemists to find out.Tripod and gauzeIf you are using a Bunsen, you’ve got to remember one fairly obvious thing: stuff gets really hot when you put it over a flame! This is what a tripod and gauze are for: the tripod sits neatly over the Bunsen burner, and things â€" such as a conical flask â€" can be placed upon it in order to be heated up without you touching them; the gauze sits beneath the flask and spreads out the heat, so the whole thing warms up evenly!Anything more you want to know about chemistry? What determines success within a career - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / What determines success within a career - Introvert Whisperer What determines success within a career? What ultimately defines career success? Despite the cliché rewards reaped of success, each individual will have their own idea of what success is and how to achieve it. Success is largely personal and what one person’s idea of success is will differ from another person’s. Success is measured through various different means such as spiritual, emotional, physical, financial, etc. and these can all interconnect and contribute towards your career success. Being profoundly efficient in any of these, satisfied with your life path, emotionally stable and happy, etc. can determine whether or not you become successful in your career. Research has found that career success is often affected by these factors, even good social and working relationships and simple happiness can determine whether or not you are able to move forward. Ultimately, you need to determine your own idea of what success means to you and move forward in that direction once you are aware of the ways in which you succee d.   Material and Financial Success So how high does money rank on your scale of importance? Cash is often a big motivator when it comes to moving forward in your career and many are holding out for that pay rise or promotion that will leave them swimming in even more cash (unless it has to go straight back out to the tax man). Money often does make the world go around, especially in business, as well as being a form of power to those who enjoy having lots of it. A large chunk of society will view success as earning a large pay cheque that leads to financial security and the ability to purchase and bask in a luxurious lifestyle. Some may simply enjoy being promoted and having authority over others, climbing the company ladder and getting to the top, which can lead to even more corporate success especially for all of those megalomaniacs lurking within your company.   Spiritual Success For the more conscientious type, success may present itself in the form of knowledge and be experienced and wise in what you do. Being the center of knowledge can be extremely rewarding and earn a lot of respect in the workplace if you know what you are doing and you are the ‘go-to-guy’ or gal. Being passionate about what you do is a reward in itself through being able to go to work every day, love your job and be able to learn more and more about the field you work in. High paid jobs that are soul destroying are not always worth it or bearable, even for a large amount of money. Being able to do a job you love for a minimal amount of money (or lots) can be a lot more satisfactory and better for your well-being too. Achieving the goals you set for yourself and surprising yourself through overcoming difficulties can be the biggest of achievements achieving itself.   Emotional Success Sometimes all it can take is to let a colleague know they are doing a good job and you appreciate what they are doing. When employees work hard, they should be recognized, praised and rewarded for their contribution towards team success as this is positive reinforcement that will encourage them to continue to work just as hard. It also makes them feel appreciated by their employer, puts them in a great mood and inspires them to progress. Employees also need to feel socially involved and happy in their job and this means successfully integrating into the team, hosting regular team building days or activities and keeping conflict to a minimum. If there is any conflict, it is important to solve this effectively in order for teammates to understand each other and different styles and approaches to work in the work environment. Employees need to have a good relationship with both their co-workers and their boss as well as with other departments and sections of the business. Negative worki ng environments can be emotional vampires and will soon drive people away or end up making things worse.   Health Success Health in the workplace is and should be a priority to most and encourages success in its own right. Health outside of work should be important enough but should be stressed, particularly in an office environment where everyone is sat down for most of the time. Staring at a screen and being idle for several hours of the day without taking breaks and stretching your legs or exercising can be extremely bad for you. You may risk developing DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) or risk straining your eyes. You may perhaps even have a high-risk job and your idea of success is remaining unharmed and healthy? Being healthy certainly does encourage success (and is a success within itself), keeping you fit, energetic and lively. The good thing about exercise is that it releases endorphins which increase positive brain activity, leading to a happier and more proactive workplace. Eating healthily along with exercise will also improve concentration and energy, giving you the necessary vitamins you need f or a healthy body and brain.   Seeing as success appears in various different forms to different people, it is up to you to determine what it is that you would be proud to achieve and what you are prepared to do to get to that point in terms of your career.   Author Bio Isabella is a writer for DiSC, a company providing disc profile training for improving work productivity, teamwork, and communication. To check that the bow hair is not too tight or too loose, place your index finger between the hair and the wooden part of the bow. If the tightness is correct, it should fit comfortably.Taking good care of your violin bow is essential to making a good sound ¦ source: Visualhunt - FloodAnother way that you can check the tightness of the bow hair is by looking at the wooden part of the bow, which should be slightly curved towards the hair. If it starts to bend outwards, the hai r is too tight. In the same way, after you have finished playing your violin, you need to loosen the horsehair before you put your bow away.To do this, simply turn the screw at the end of the bow to the left.2.           Apply rosin to the violin bowApplying rosin to the horsehair once it has been tightened is part of preparing your bow before you play the violin.Rosin is a solid amber residue which comes from tree sap. Its purpose is to provide a level of friction between the bow hair and the violin string â€" without it, the bow would simply slide over the violin strings producing no sound. Most violins are sold with rosin as part of their outfit. To apply the rosin, simply hold the bow in your right hand and the rosin in your left hand. Next, stroke the full length of the bow over the block of rosin for 20 full strokes.Once you have completed 20 strokes, try bowing a note on your violin. If it is quiet or scratchy, apply more rosin until the sound is clearer.3.           Wipe your violin down with a dust clothOnce you have finished your violin lessons or practice sessions, it is recommended that you wipe your violin down with a dry cloth.Wiping your violin will prevent any dust from building up as well as protecting the violin’s strings from a sticky build-up of rosin. You should also wipe the wooden part of your violin bow before putting it away.To wipe down your violin, you can use any dry cleaning cloth, but microfibre and dusting cloths are the most effective at removing unwanted dust from the instrument’s body, bow and strings. If you want to make sure that your cleaning cloth is doing its job properly, make sure that you wash it regularly. Washing will remove most of the dirt, however, once there has been a significant build-up of rosin, you will need to replace your cloth.4.           Put your violin awayStoring your violin safely is one of the most important parts of caring for your string instrument. The vast majority of violins, when bought, come i n cases which are made especially for their shape. These cases are designed to house the instrument safely and protect it from external damage, providing support of the violin’s most delicate parts including the neck, the bridge, the scroll the tailpiece the tuning pegs, and of course the bow. When buying a violin, make sure it comes with a proper case - whether it's a low or high-priced violin, you need to be able to store it properly.Violins are incredibly delicate instruments, which is why it is essential that they are stored correctly in their cases when they are not being played. This means that they shouldn’t be balanced on a chair, placed on a violin stand or left anywhere they could be knocked over or trodden on.General MaintenanceAs the proud owner of a violin, its maintenance isn’t limited to daily tasks â€" there are plenty of things you need to do on a less regular basis to ensure that your instrument is in the best possible condition for playing. Here are the main t hings you need to know about general violin maintenance: ·                 Replace the violin’s stringsIt is recommended that the musician replaces their violin’s strings every 12 months, however, this may vary depending on how often you play your violin.Replacing a violin’s strings may seem daunting at first, so if you’re a novice, you may wish to approach a professional at your local violin shop who can help you ¦ source: Pixbay - PilotBrentMaking sure that your violin’s strings are relatively new will mean that your violin maintains a bright and warm sound.Violin strings can be bought from any good music shop. A good violin tuner will help you adjust your new strings. ·                 Rehair your bowJust like the violin’s strings, the horsehair on the violin bow can also become worn and brittle over time. The guidelines for rehairing  violin bows are less clear than those for restringing an instrument, but the general advice is to have your bow hair changed once it s tops feeling ‘right’ or becomes noticeably dirty. Some professionals have their horsehair changed every few months or so, whereas many students can go over two years without having any new bowhair. The changing of bow hair should be a job which is reserved only for those who specialize in bow making â€" do not try to rehair your bow by yourself. ·                 Temperature and humidity levelsChanges in the humidity and temperature of an environment are known to affect musical instruments carved from wood (including the guitar and woodwind insturments such as the clarinet). As a rule of thumb, in order to keep their violin at a suitable temperature, violinists are told to treat their instrument as they would treat a human. Although this may sound extreme, keeping your violin at a temperature which is comfortable for you is the best way to prevent warping and cracks to the violin’s delicate body. So, don’t leave your violin in a freezing-cold car overnight, nor on the backseat d uring a sunny day.Humidity is also an issue which violinists need to consider. As violins are crafted from wood, they naturally exchange moisture with the surrounding air. For this reason, maintaining regular humidity levels is important for preventing warping. It is recommended that violins are kept in environments with 40%-60% humidity. In the case that the humidity levels should drop significantly, there are violin humidifiers available to prevent any damage to the instrument.Humidifiers can either fit through the f-holes whilst the instrument is in the violin case or can be used to humidify the air in a whole room.Violin RepairsWhen you play your instrument on a regular basis, it’s only natural that it will require some repairing  from time to time.If ever you notice any changes to the sound quality or playability of your violin, it may be a good idea to take it to a luthier (violin restorer) to be serviced.A luthier is someone who specialises in the making and repair of string instruments ¦ source: Visualhunt - Pocky-Instrument repair and servicing, like car servicing, is all about checking that each of the violin parts are in the best possible working order so that the instrument can fulfil its potential.Violin repair and restoration services are usually offered by music shops which have their own workshops which are dedicated to getting all instruments sounding their best. In the case of lutherie (the art of violin making), trained restoring specialists exercise their workmanship in polishing and varnishing instruments belonging to the violin family (including the cello and double bass), as well as replacing worn fingerboards and ensuring that the tuning pegs are not too stiff or loose.Full servicing should be done every year or so to ensure that the instrument’s tone is at its finest - with the right servicing, a good violin with sound almost as lovely as a Stradivarius. Are you on the hunt for violin lessons London or other UK city? How to Use a Capo 5 Useful Tips

How to Use a Capo 5 Useful Tips Suzy S. Have you ever been frustrated with the key of a song, and wanted to change it instantly without having to transpose everything and learn new chords? Well, now you can! Learning how to use a capo can be a lifesaver, especially if you enjoy singing along or if you frequently work with vocalists. For an easy, hands-on way to see how a capo works, try playing a normal C chord. Place your capo on the first fret. Then play the same position you just played youll notice its now half-step higher (C#). Next, move the capo to the second fret. Voila now you have the key of D. See where were going with this? As you experiment more with your capo, youll get better at recognizing which chords youre actually playing. In the meantime, consider keeping a capo chart nearby to cross-reference. Here are some additional tips to keep in mind: Check your tuning. Clamping the capo down on your strings sometimes causes them to go out of tune, so youll want to tune your guitar again when youre done using the capo. This is especially applicable for electric guitars, since the strings are so much lighter. Always place the capo slightly behind the fret never directly on top of it. Experiment with different types of capos. Spring-loaded (or trigger) capos are a popular choice, which are easier to use than a c-clamp capo. The latter type requires you to manually tighten the capo against the fret, whereas the former can be taken off quickly and with one hand. Another type is a toggle capo, which is generally the least expensive, but is also very flimsy. Shubb and Kyser are two well-known brands to check out. Use a partial capo for alternate tunings. A partial (or cut) capo covers only some of the strings. It gives off a distinct drone sound often used in Celtic music, and it also allows you to explore with alternate tunings, like Drop-D. Dont be afraid to experiment and play around with it! Watch for buzzing. If you have the capo in place, but your strings are still buzzing, try adjusting the capos position until you get a clean sound. Once youve learned how to use a capo,   youll have a lot more freedom to explore different keys and registers, and see what sounds best to you. Have fun! Photo by Adam Solomon.

If you have a lot of equipment, a backpack or camera bag will be essential. (Source: linsepc)Your bag won't just protect your equipment, it’ll also useful for lugging it all around. This is particularly important when it comes to filming whilst out and about.Camera bags are often padded so that your gear doesn’t get jostled around and you can get them either as satchels or as backpacks.Don’t Forget Memory Cards for Saving Your FootageIt’s all well and good pointing your digital camera at something but unless you have a memory card, you’ll have nowhere to store your footage. While most cameras do have some internal memory, it isn’t much so you should invest in one or several memory cards. SD cards are the most common type of memory cards in cameras but some cameras require specific cards.Don’t hesitate to get a few of them. After all, 4K video or even HD video will take up a lot of space; a lot more than photos do. Having a few extra memory cards won’t hurt. It’s bett er to have several smaller ones than one with a lot of memory. If you lose it, you’ll lose everything. By having your footage across several cards, you’ll only lose the stuff on that particular card.Learn more about the different types of camera.Lenses: Essential for DSLRs and Hybrid CamerasA digital SLR camera and hybrid camera have interchangeable lenses. Lenses can be really useful when filming as you can choose the focal distance you want. There are plenty of different lenses to think about, especially when it comes to bigger brands like Sony, Canon, and Nikon. The lens isn’t the only thing to consider but it can greatly affect the image quality. It’s recommended you invest in a lens with a good aperture. In terms of price, you should know that they can cost a pretty penny. Depending on the model, you can pay anywhere between a few hundred and thousands for a lens.Compact and bridge cameras have fixed lenses so you can’t change them. You need to carefully consider this w hen it comes to finding the best DSLR, hybrid, bridge, or compact camera in terms of value for money. With different lenses, you can play around with focal length and depth of field, too.Buy Emergency Batteries for Your CameraFilming can quickly drain your camera’s battery. It’ll run out if you’re filming all day so you should pick up several batteries. Charge them all the night before and you can just swap them over when the time comes. You can quickly use an entire battery without realising. (Source: Deeashley)There are external battery packs available for DSLR cameras that can clip on to the camera’s body. They often tend to be more expensive but they’re a great investment if you’re going to be filming regularly.Check out our advice for shooting video.Tripods and StabilisersThere’s nothing worse than shaky footage. It’s very difficult to fix with editing and it can ruin a whole scene. However, it’s a mistake that a lot of amateur filmmakers make. When holding a camera in your hands, it’s impossible to get a perfectly smooth shot. That doesn’t mean that you can’t fix it, but it’s better to invest in accessories that’ll prevent this rather than fixing it.Tripods are the most common option. They’re usually quite easy to transport as they fold up. That said, they can be quite heavy. The heavier your camera, the heavier your tripod will need to be. If the balance is off, it can fall over. There ar e also camera stabilisers that you can hold. These stabilisers are often used for cameras like GoPros but they can be used with hybrid, bridge, compact, or digital SLR cameras. While it might be fine for home movies, the sound quality in most cameras isn’t great so you should in vest in an external microphone.Rode Microphones are particularly well known and you can plug them into reflex and hybrid cameras. If you can’t connect a microphone directly, you may need to record all the audio on a separate device and sync the audio and video up in post. You’ll need to use a clapperboard or just clap your hands on camera to sync up the audio and video. You can get Zoom recording devices for around £100.Spotlights for Recording IndoorsSpotlights aren’t an essential investment but they can certainly improve your footage. Lighting is an essential part of photography and film. The image sensor needs to capture light to create the images. When filming indoors, it can be tough getting the perfect lighting. When shooting outdoors during the day, you probably won't need spotlights. (Source: Hans)Ideally, you’ll want a device with a full-frame sensor (a hybrid or DSLR camera). If you have a smaller sensor, you might need more light. You'd be surprised at how much sensor size can affect your photography.Spotlights can be pointed in any direction and will do the job.  After all, shooting in low light conditions can be tricky,A SunshadeThe sunshade is often forgotten about even though it’s incredibly useful for photographers and filmmakers. It’s a way to stop the glare from the sun appearing on your footage. Too much sunlight will cause streaks of light to appear on your footage. The sunshade will protect unwanted light sources from entering the lens.  Additionally, it can also act as a small buffer protecting the lens from impacts.FiltersFilters can be attached to the ends of lenses and can filter certain types of light. Whether it’s for photography or filming, you can use them to a lter the colours, contrast, etc.  There are several types available.Invest in a ViewfinderRarely, you can’t see what you’re filming. However, you'll want to see exactly what your camera sees. Most digital cameras now come with an LCD where you can see the image being captured. However, in the sunshine or the rain, you can’t always see this screen. If you can't see what your camera is capturing, you might want a viewfinder. (Source: Free-Photos)Getting a monitor is a good way to see what you’re filming clearly. It’s also easier to focus and set up your shot.Where Can You Buy Accessories for Your Camera?Where can you find lenses, electronic viewfinders, memory cards, etc.?You can get photography and film equipment in most large electronics stores as well as in dedicated camera shops. You can also get everything online. You can also get second-hand accessories. You’ll find you can find everything you need second-hand!If you find yourself confused by megapixels, single-lens reflex cameras, and image sensors, you should consider reading our other articles on photography. If you'd like to learn more about photography and film, there are plenty of private tutors on Superprof who can help you. There are different types of tutorials for different budgets and learning styles so it's up to you which one you go for.Face-to-face tutori als are the most costly but are also the most cost-effective. With just you and the tutor, the tutorials can be tailored to you, what you want to learn, and your preferred learning style.Online tutorials are similar but instead of the tutor being there in the room with you, they'll teach you remotely using video conferencing software. While this is fine for academic and theoretical subjects, it can be trickier for hands-on subjects that benefit from having a tutor there in the room with you. Finally, there are group tutorials which tend to be the cheapest per student per hour. Since the cost of the tutor is shared amongst all the students in attendance, each student will be paying a smaller amount than they would in face-to-face or online tutorials. However, this also means that the lessons aren't as personalised as the other types of tutorials and you won't get as much one-on-one time with your tutor as they have other students to worry about. The choice is yours!

Analyzing Math Anxiety

Analyzing Math Anxiety Researchers at the Numerical Cognition Lab and The University of Chicago have been analyzing the causes of math anxiety. This is a situation familiar to many K-12 students, who seem to freeze when they see a math problem. Their research shows that the anxiety of math teachers and parents can rub off on their students, ultimately affecting theirlearning. Fortunately, proven classroom methods have also been tested to reduce students' anxiety of doing mathematics. These tips include: Focus on learning the process behind math concepts, rather than merely trying to get a right answer. Similarly, don't refer to the textbook's answer key very often. Instead, value the problem and have students arrive at their own answers. Encourage every student to work on the problem on paper. This is in contrast to more traditional methods where one student raises his/her hand, blurts out the answer, and then the teacher promptly moves on to the next question. Give students time to make mistakes, realize their own mistakes, and then time to attempt problems multiple times. Read the full article describing the research here.
